How is the jewellery made?

Elassaad Jewellery is predominately made using lost wax carving technique, commonly found in ancient byzantine and roman jewellery making.

This comprises of carving the design from wax, placing it in a plaster cylinder and then pouring melted metal into the cylinder to take the shape of the wax mould.

What materials do you work with?

Elassaad Jewellery is made in solid brass and 925 sterling silver.

Solid brass is our preferred metal as it is malleable and has a long life span.

Brass allows the jewellery to be sized perfectly and mould to the wearers body shape.

925 Sterling Silver is used upon request.

We work with most precious metals, Gold, White Gold, Rose Gold & Platinum upon request.

Will my jewellery tarnish?

The Elassaad style is designed to age over time.

Will Brass make my skin turn green?

The discolouration of the skin is based on the way the skin interacts with the metal. General rule is that the higher the acidic levels in the skin the more likely the skin may leave a green mark where the jewellery has been. This is the skin adjusting to the metal, this may be more apparent in summer than in winter as the body sweats more. The discolouration is temporary and is not harmful in anyway. Once the skin adjusts to the metal is will stop reacting to it and no marks will be left.

These occurrences are very rare with Elassaad Jewellery as we coat all our pieces with a clear varnish to ensure there is a layer between the jewellery piece and the skin.
